Katie Melua Schuba’s Review

SCHUBAS, Chicago, Illinois – Katie Melua was ingenious as she performed electrically and acoustically on guitar and then melodically on keys.
The entire evening was like attending a piano recital where the audience is completely silent and suddenly erupts with excitement as the song concludes.
Someone even uttered “I love you Katie.”
Katie Melua commenced her evening electrically with “Kosmic Blues” and then “Piece by Piece.”
Katie then dropped it down acoustically and performed “Mary Pickford” and “Toy Collection.”
The next song “In Germany Before the War,” Katie melodically performed on the keyboard.
The multi-talented Katie Melua was all over the map musically and as each song concluded the silent recital turned into a rambunctious audience.
Katie Melua continued to alternate and perform like a three piece rock band similar to Bon Jovi touring with only Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and David Bryan.
The evening didn’t include an encore at Schubas because, like Katie Melua remarked, “I can’t do an encore because there is nowhere to go.”
With no encore, Katie Melua concluded her performance with “The Closest Thing to Crazy” and “I Cried for You.”
Afterwards I heard several Katie Melua fans shocked that she did not perform “My Aphrodisiac is You.” Although that song was not included on Katie’s set list, her performance was still ingenious and was really enjoyed by the rambunctious audience. Below is the set list for Katie Melua at Schubas.
