Alter Bridge’s First Release in Three Years Debuts at #5 On Rock and #12 on Billboard Outselling Their Previous Release
(October 16th, 2013 – New York, NY) Alter Bridge’s latest studio album Fortress, is currently available in the United States and has made its mark on the US charts. Fortress debuted at #12 on the Billboard Top 200 outselling the band’s previous release. It also landed at #5 on the Top Current Rock Albums and Top Current Alternative Albums. The album is being released via Alter Bridge Records through Caroline in the US (via Roadrunner Records throughout the rest of the world) and was #4 on the Independent Current Albums chart this week. Fortress hit #1 on the iTunes Rock Album chart and #8 on the iTunes Top Album chart thisweek. The album debuted in the UK as the #1 Rock Record and the #6 record overall on the charts this week. The latest release from the rock juggernaut band comprised of Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitar, Mark Tremonti on guitar/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums, has been getting rave reviews around the world. The Guardian newspaper recently called Fortress: “As epic as prime Led Zep and as thunderous as peak-form Sabbath…” and Loudwire declares “the substance and technicality that they have immersed into their music have elevated them to a whole new level.” The album was produced by long-time Alter Bridge producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette, known for his work with Falling In Reverse, Story Of The Year and Incubus to name a few.
The debut single “Addicted To Pain” has been making waves on the US Rock Radio charts since it was released last month. It is currently in the Top 25 on the Mediabase Active Rock Charts and Top 20 on the BDS Active Rock Charts. The song is also Top 20 on the both the Mediabase and BDS Heritage Rock Charts. Stations such as WMMR in Philadelphia, WRIF in Detroit, KTBZ in Houston and KQRC in Kansas City just to name a few, have all been supporting the single to date. WGRD in Grand Rapids has had Alter Bridge in their “Roctagon” battles for over 2 months now and the band has made history with “Addicted To Pain” being the first song to be retired after winning 20 consecutive times. Alter Bridge recently played their only US show in 2013 in Orlando, FL on October 4th at the House of Blues. The sold out-show was the band’s first concert in over 18 months and was met with fan and critical acclaim. The band is currently over in Europe on an extensive headlining world tour that runs from October 16th through November 16 and will feature Shinedown and Halestorm joining the band on select dates. Alter Bridge will also make a triumphant return to Wembley Arena in London on October 18th, a venue they sold out onABIII and documented with the CD/DVD, Alter Bridge Live At Wembley.
Alter Bridge burst onto the music scene in 2004 with the release of their gold-selling debut, One Day Remains. In 2007, the band released Blackbird, the album that elevated the band’s profile worldwide. The epic solo in the title track “Blackbird” was voted “Greatest Guitar Solo Of All Time” by Guitarist Magazine. ABIII was released in 2010 and the single “Isolation” gave the band their first #1 single. Alter Bridge has appeared on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live and their music has beenused by the WWE, Major League Baseball and NASCAR to name a few. When Alter Bridge is on hiatus, singer Myles Kennedy can be found fronting Slash’s band, Slash, featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. Guitarist Mark Tremonti recently released his fist solo project All I Was that found Wolfgang Van Halen playing bass with Mark on the road. Scott Phillips formed Projected with John Connolly and Vinnie Hornsby of Sevendust and released their debut in 2012.
