New York, NY (April 3, 2013) – Filter will make their Wind-up Records debut with the release of their sixth studio album, The Sun Comes Out Tonight on June 4, 2013. Recorded in Los Angeles at Blue Room Studios with producer Bob Marlette, The Sun Comes Out Tonight follows 2010’s The Trouble with Angels. The band’s decorated history also includes such platinum and gold recordings as Short Bus (1995), Title of Record (1999), The Amalgamut (2002) and Anthems for the Damned (2008).
The album was written and recorded by leader Richard Patrick and guitarist Jonny Radtke, as well as collaborator Marlette. The first single, “What Do You Say” is available now to download or stream and will go to rock radio on May 7, 2013. Special album pre-order packages are available now through Filter’s website, additional packages are available now through iTunes, Wal-Mart, Amazon and Newbury Comics.
Formed in 1993, Filter has enjoyed significant success over the past two decades. The band released their critically acclaimed first album Short Bus in 1995, a disc Rolling Stone praised as “a timely combination of grunge heat and industrial ice.” Fueled by the top 10 hit “Hey Man Nice Shot,” the album rocketed to # 3 on Billboard‘s Heatseekers Chart and went on to sell more than a million copies. They raised the bar with 1999’s Title of Record which featured the top 10 rock hit “Welcome To The Fold” along with a blockbuster crossover smash in “Take A Picture,” a song that shot to # 3 on Billboard‘s Modern Rock Chart, # 7 on its Adult Top 40 Chart and # 1 on its Dance Music/Club Play Chart. The years that followed saw the band releasing three more albums – 2002’s the Amalgamut, 2008’s Anthems For The Damned and 2010’s The Trouble with Angels, while touring the world and amassing a huge international fan base whose members number in the millions. Filter has also contributed songs to several blockbuster soundtracks, including 2012, Judgment Night,Spawn (the Crystal Method collaboration “(Can’t You) Trip Like I Do”), Little Nicky, Demon Knight, Stepfather, Anger Management, Crow 2, Girl Next Door, Cable Guy and many more.
Filter will be on the road doing select headline dates before and in between the Summerland tour which will hit more than 35 U.S. cities. Filter, Everclear, Live and Sponge will be on the bill. Summerland 2013 Alternative Guitars begins on May 29th in Ft. Myers, Florida. Tickets are on sale now and are available here.
